Windows 10X First Impressions

The Major comparison between Windows10X and Windows 10 related to its UI, New Features and even Security Improvements.

Windows 10X Overview:

Microsoft has been working on Windows 10X for quite a long time. So finally the good news today is its final beta version has been leaked. As you can see in the image below there are quite a few changes like New UI, New Apps, Security Improvements, etc. So let's have a look at what's new in Windows 10X.

Before Starting let me make this thing very clear that Windows 10X is not an update for Windows 10 devices. It means that you will get feature updates according to Windows 10 new update rollouts on your device. 10X is a separate platform that is designed to take on Chrome OS that will come only on new devices.

Biggest Changes in Windows 10X:

1. Setup Experience:

Windows 10X is a lot cleaner than comparing with Windows 10. There is no annoying Cortana Voice like what we have on windows when we set up for the first time. This is pretty great for Windows users who use to time and then complain about that annoying voice assistant.

2. Clean UI:

Windows 10X has a lot of cleaner UI than the usual Windows 10. There is a taskbar at the bottom and when a user clicks on its a bunch of apps comes up. It's is similar to Android phones where you swipe your screen and the usual app drawer appears. Anyways it doesn't contain those ugly live tiles on Windows 10  which makes the user experience rubbish. But in 10 X you get a clean layout with apps and a universal search bar at the top which works normally like Windows 10 but in a better way.

3.  Cool Animations:

Windows 10X has some cool animations like app icon bounces when you minimize an app, start menu pops up when you click on it. There is a new app switch animation that resembles Mac Os and a lot more animation in their UI.

4. New Action Centre:

Windows 10X has a new cool-looking action center that contains usual toggles like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, App notification, etc. One thing that separates it from Windows 10, it includes a new music controller which was missing on Windows 10.

5. Applications:

Windows 10X includes Microsoft edge preinstalled as well as Files App. The files app is much cleaner as compared to Windows 10. Below you can see that there is only an OneDrive option. This is because Windows 10X is a web-based application just like Chrome OS.

Some Peculiar cons with Windows 10X:

  • You can create only a Microsoft account as of now and there is no support for a local account.
  • One major thing is that apart from the Edge and files app, Windows 10X has nothing because it doesn't have the support for x86 apps.
  • It only supports PWA's and UWP apps from the Windows Store. (You can install web-based apps like Spotify )

Other improvements in Windows 10X

1.Windows Updates:

Windows 10X will update the software in the background exactly like Chrome OS. A quick restart will get the job done. We all know that Windows Updates are pain and many of you might be constantly ignoring it.

2. Windows Security:

Windows has made a major improvement in terms of security. We all know in the past that Windows PC/ Laptops are often prone to malware. So to solve this Windows 10X will keep user partition and all the system apps/files will be sandboxed. So that if any virus enters your PC/ Laptops they cannot damage your Internal Files.

Conclusion on Windows 10X:

To sum up, Windows 10X will be a great OS for Windows because of its minimal UI, Top-notch Security, better implementation of Windows Updates, and much more. But the main question that arises is that When we will be getting to see Windows 10X Laptops. So according to the news, Laptops with integrated Windows 10X will come out in April 2021. So the wait won't be too long. Do let me know in the comments section about this update from Microsoft.
